Shakespeare on the Common

Shakespeare on the Common - Members
$0.00

Shakespeare on the Common is a Boston tradition, now in its 27th season! Every summer a stage is built near the Parkman Bandstand, and the audience spreads out on the grass in lawn chairs and on picnic blankets to see world-class productions of Shakespeare plays for free. The performances draw as many as 50,000 people per season! The venue is centrally located, accessible, and close to the Red, Green, and Orange Lines; parking is also available in the Boston Common Garage.

We’re planning to gather on Thursday, August 3 for this year’s production of Macbeth. The play begins at 8 p.m., but if you'd like to arrive early, Yalies are welcome to meet up nearby at 4th Wall Restaurant and Bar, 228 Tremont Street, as early as 6pm; we'll then walk over together at 7pm. We recommend either bringing a picnic blanket or using this link to rent a lawn chair ahead of time (select "General Seating"). Because this is a free event, RSVPs are not required in order to participate – but we do encourage them, so we have a rough idea of how many people to expect!

*YaleBoston members often take photos at our events, which we enjoy using on our website and for other publicity. If you do not wish to appear in a photo, please alert the photographer.
